Christmas Crochet 2015

This year I have been far more organised for Christmas in terms of actually buying gifts as well as making them. This makes me very happy indeed, meaning (fingers crossed) that December will be a 'me' month where I can crochet personal projects (and there are a few!) and have some lovely family time where I'm not worry about running around trying to find presents at the last minute!!

I decided to only make a few gifts this year, mainly for the little ones:

This year I will be making a couple of hats for boys and maybe an adult one. Easy to make and super quick to whip up. I follow this great pattern from Alli's Craft Blog (link) which I've followed in various sizes. I would highly recommend this if you want an evening project where you don't have to concentrate too much.  The fun part is picking out which colours to choose!

I originally planned to make a few items of clothing for children but decided at the last minute to only make a jumper for my niece. I'm about half way through it and so far it seems fairly easy although deciding which size to make was a bit of a headache. After a quick search on Ravelry at other people's projects I decided to stick with the 12month size even though she is nearly 15months, a lot of people said it came up bigger so fingers crossed it will be ok! The pattern was free from Ravelry (link) by Heather Lodinsky. I've been using Stylecraft Special DK in cream as I am trying to use as much of my stash as possible.

Lastly I made a pair of slippers after seeing so many people on Instagram making them from this month's Inside Crochet. I have unsuccessfully attempted slippers in the past but this pattern was really easy to follow and I think using super chunky yarn really helped. I picked up this purple Robin Super Chunky Yarn from a local shop when I bought the magazine and finished with a mix of yellow and grey dk yarn for the pom pom.

Now to retreat to my crochet corner and carry on with these projects!

What have you been making for Christmas?
